SHARK FISHING PROHIBITED FROM MAY 1 TO AUGUST 31

SHARK FISHING PROHIBITED FROM MAY 1 TO AUGUST 31
Shark fishing in Saint-Barthélemy waters is strictly prohibited from May 1 to August 31 inclusive.
This is the breeding season for these species.
In fact, certain species of shark are prohibited from being caught ALL year round: the nurse shark, the lemon shark, the longiman shark, all hammerhead sharks and the whale shark.
If you see a baby shark in the water, it is forbidden to touch, chase or feed it. It needs peace and quiet to grow up before heading out to sea.
It should also be remembered that a fishing permit is compulsory on Saint-Barthélemy - except for angling from the coast.
Free of charge, it can be obtained from the Agence Territoriale de l'Environnement.
All recreational anglers should be familiar with the regulations in force:
- No-fishing zones
-Regulations concerning types of fishing
